WTA Dubai Open: Second Round 392021 Tennis Prediction

Sports Chat Place previews some of the Second Round matches at the 2021 Dubai Open WTA event. The matches are scheduled to take place on Tuesday March 9th, 2021. Madison Keys vs. Anastasia Potapova – Eleventh seeded American Madison faces Anastasia Potapova in the Second Round. They were both impressive in their Opening Round wins over En-Shuo Liang and Laura Siegemud respectively. They both play a similar brand of attacking baseline tennis, but Madison Keys is simply the better player and while she is still knocking the rust off after such a long break, expect her to get the win here, possibly in three sets. . Victoria Azarenka vs. Caroline Garcia – This should be a fantastic match between seventh seeded Azarenka and former top 5 player Carolina Garcia. This will be a classic defense vs. offense match. Garcia overcame Angelique Kerber in an impressive First Round win, but her run will end here. She has the quality to make it interesting, but it is doubtful that she can maintain the level needed to defeat Azarenka for long periods. Azarenka to win. Pick – Victoria Azarenka to win. . Belinda Bencic vs. Veronika Kudermetova – This should be an interesting matchup between sixth seeded Bencic and Kudermetova. While Bencic is the more recognized player, the Russian actually leads the head to head series 3-2 and has seemed in good form here in Dubai, easily defeating compatriot Pavlyuchenkova in the First Round. Bencic is coming off a poor showing in Qatar and is not in the best form here. I think that Kudermetova springs the upset here and wins in three close sets. Pick – Veronika Kudermetova to win. . Kiki Bertens vs. Tereza Martincova – Fifth seeded Kiki Bertens has had a rough start to her 2021 season, after a long break due to injury. This looks like a relatively simple match for her on paper but she has only played one match since last year a First Round loss to Jelena Ostapenko in Qatar and is seriously lacking fitness and form. Expect a tought battle, but Bertens should win eventually.
