fter sweeping the four biggest categories at the Grammy Awards last yeartaking home Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New ArtistBillie Eilish is back again to prove her domination of music in 2020 was no fluke. Before the Grammy Awards even started on Sunday night she had already taken home another award, for Best Song Written for Visual Media for her James Bond song No Time to Die, which very may well be the only song to win a Grammy in this category before the film its connected to ever opened. And when the show began, Eilish was part of the quartet of performers who opened the show, first nodding along as Harry Styles performed Watermelon Sugar and then standing astride a car, accompanied by her brother Finneas, to perform Everything I Wanted. . The three-and-a-half-hour show, hosted by Trevor Noah, will be a mix of live and pre-recorded performances for safety purposes, but executive producer Ben Winston promised Rolling Stone that his goal is to make the whole evening feel as live as possible. While the actual location of the ceremony is top secret, he did confirm that the show wont be held at the Staples Center as is customary, making this the first time since 1999 that the Grammys hasnt taken place at either the Staples Center or Madison Square Garden. Instead, artists will be spread across the enormous, secret venues five different stages where theyll perform without an audience. Winston promises hes working to make a show with heart that doesnt feel isolated, quiet, or alone. He added that they pushed back the 2021 Grammys originally scheduled to take place on January 31 because it just didnt feel right, but this new show will absolutely acknowledge whats happened to the country over the last year.
